Welcome back to RBG’s Weekly Scoop, giving you the inside scoop on everything pertaining to the 2022 Gubernatorial Race and, most importantly, our efforts to oust Ron DeSantis from the Florida Governor’s mansion.
The Democrats vs. Ron
In the race for Governor of Florida online, Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis continues to lead his Democratic opponents by a large margin, spending over $175,000 on digital ads on Google and Facebook. In comparison, the Democrats have only spent a total of $59,000 combined on those same platforms, with Charlie Crist accounting for a majority of that spend.
What does that mean for Democrats? Put simply, it means that their messages are not reaching as many Florida voters through digital ad channels.
DeSantis’ most recent video ad is titled ‘Biden Border Policies’ in which he states, “I’ve sent state law enforcement to help fortify the border. We’re suing Biden in federal court, and we’re setting aside money in our budget to be able to reroute any illegals Biden drops in Florida back to Delaware.”
Nikki Fried’s most recent Facebook ads include a call for DeSantis to veto the “Don’t Say Gay” Bill – which is extremely likely as DeSantis has said there is “zero” chance he’d give into “fraudulent media narratives or pressure from woke corporations.” Another ad positions Fried as an “open-minded leader” in direct contrast to DeSantis.
Charlie Crist’s latest Facebook ads focus on raising money for the campaign, offering a chance to go fishing with the candidate, and touting positive polling numbers.
